An Evening With George Lucas (featuring John Favreau)

George Lucas was honored in Chicago on June 13, 2009 at the Four Seasons by The Gene Siskel Film Center of the School of the Art Institute during “An Evening With George Lucas”. The legendary STAR WARS creator was presented their Visionary Award for Innovation in Filmmaking by SAIC President Wellington Reiter.  George Lucas mingled with attendees with his wife Mellody Hobson at his side as a special Star Wars themed drink menu was served. John Favreau flew into town directly from the set of Iron Man 2 to conduct a lengthy Q&A with Lucas following dinner.

Jimmy Mac attended the event as a media guest and had the opportunity to chat with George Lucas, Jon Favreau and Mellody Hobson in a private press line before the festivities started. George spotted Jimmy’s audio recorder and he thought it was a taser! Entertainment reporter for the Chicago Sun Times Bill Zwecker reported on the moment:

"Moments after Hobson talked about Lucas' ''secret'' sense of humor, the filmmaking legend zinged a radio reporter when handed a strange-looking microphone contraption resembling a police device. ''Is that a Taser? Are you trying to tase me?'' quipped the guy who created light sabers and blasters."

Enjoy listening to the interviews and the rarely-heard Favreau/Lucas Q&A, along with a nice photo gallery of the amazing evening in Chicago.
