RFR Q&A #317: Alternate Star Wars "Big 3" Casting

Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher. It's almost impossible to imagine anyone else playing the roles of Luke, Han, and Leia, but these 3 beat out half of Hollywood during an intense audition process to win the roles of a lifetime. But what if those roles went to other actors? Christopher Walken, Kurt Russell, Cindy Williams, and Robbie Benson are just some of the soon-to-be-famous actors who tried out for Star Wars and some of their auditions can even be found online. RFR V.I.P. Peter Beisser takes us through the audition process for the original Star Wars movie while pulling info from all of the specials, making of books, and internet lore. We discuss how we would recast the movie with some of the contenders and talk about how the actors eventually cast as the "Big 3" made those roles their own.
