R.I.P. Tom Kane

We are sorry to hear the news of Tom Kane’s passing. Collider reports:

Prolific voice actor Tom Kane has died. Best known for his roles on series like The Powerpuff Girls, The Wild Thornberrys, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Kane was a vocal chameleon. Kane was 64.

Kane was a gifted mimic, and was often called in to fill in for other actors. He provided a voiceover as Dr. Sam Loomis in 1998's Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, replacing the late Donald Pleasence, stepped in for the late George Coe on Archer as long-suffering valet Woodhouse, and voiced Admiral Ackbar in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, replacing the late Erik Bauersfeld.

Kane suffered a stroke in late 2020, which greatly affected his speech and movement; he subsequently retired from voice acting. His death was announced on Facebook by his talent agency, Galactic Productions. He is survived by his wife and nine children.

Tom was a great friend of us here at RFR and he always made himself available to us when we needed him. He also was a great hang, especially late night, and would always keep us laughing our asses off. And Tom was incredible onstage with us for the Star Wars Smuggler Series at Star Wars Celebration where he performed as C-3PO and narrator.

Join us in passing along positive vibes through The Force to Tom’s family during this tough time.
