Why Are Lightsaber Stabs So Harmless in the Disney Era?

We discuss and debate how lightsaber stabs to the midsection have apparently become harmless in the Disney era, while they were fatal in earlier eras of Star Wars, like when Darth Maul killed Qui Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace. We look at four examples of characters being wounded in the same way Qui Gon was, yet their injuries are definitely not fatal.
