Kyle Newman is an American-born filmmaker and sometimes actor. His directorial work encompasses several feature films including The Hollow and Fanboys, a comedy about Star Wars fans who embark on a road trip to Skywalker Ranch to fulfill the wish of a dying friend (featuring Kristen Bell, Seth Rogen and William Shatner) that was distributed by The Weinstein Company. Hisnew film, an action-comedy Barely Lethal starring Oscar Nominees Hailee Steinfeld and Samuel L. Jackson alongside Jessica Alba for Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment, is currently being released by prestigious A24 Films.
He has directed music videos for some of the industry’s top artists including Taylor Swift (“Style”), Lana Del Rey (“Summertime Sadness”) and created the video content for Taylor Swift’s current 1989 World Tour featuring Lena Dunham, Cara Delevigne, Selena Gomez and more.
On the horizon are several films including an adaptation of Tom Robbins' best-selling novel Still Life With Woodpecker and the ‘Blacklist'-honored Chewie about real-life giant Peter Mayhew's misadventures on the set of Star Wars. He also produced Raiders: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made, a feature documentary about two teenagers who set out to recreate Steven Spielberg’s classic Raiders of the Lost Ark shot-for-shot in 1982 coming to theaters in 2016.
Newman, an honors graduate of NYU’s School of Film/TV, has written and/or directed for clients including The Microsoft Corp., Interscope Records, Starz Entertainment, The Coca-Cola Company, Starwars.com, Entertainment Weekly, Big Machine Records, Pacific Life Insurance, Games For Windows, Titan Publishing, Universal Republic Music, The Saturday Group and Lucasfilm, Ltd.
Kyle is also the director/writer of the Star Wars: Smuggler’s Series – a audio drama show performed live at Lucasfilm’s official Star Wars Celebration and is a regular contributor to the RebelForce Radio flagship program and Star Wars Rebels: Declassified.
